Under the helm of King Power Group, LCFC – the only Thai team in the UK’s Premier League – held a press conference showcasing 10 teenage football players to join Fox Hunt Generation 4. They were shortlisted to have a football education with the LCFC staff and players and at the same time they will have a normal schooling at Ratcliffe College for 2.5 years.
At the press conference which took place at Eternity Room, the Pullman Bangkok King Power, Apichet Srivaddhanaprabha, King Power Group Assistant Chief Operating Officer and Board of Director Leicester City Football Club, talked about the objectives of the Fox Hunt Project. He said, “King Power foresaw an opportunity to help develop Thai football industry by stressing on Thai youth whom King Power has always placed the importance on. From Fox Hunt Generation 1 until the latest one – Generation 4, we’ve seen more and more changes and development in terms of physical and technical aspects. All of our new boys were shortlisted from King Power Cup 2018/2019 which screened 4,680 applicants from across Thailand. As we have our own football clubs in Europe and facility-wise, we’re also well-equipped with systematic training facilities. We can make use of our LCFC training centre which has been accredited as the UK’s top 10 best centre. That’s how this project came about and it will help strengthening the growth of Thai football industry in the future.”
Mr. Steve Healy, Fox Hunt Head Coach Leicester City Football Club in the UK added that, “Firstly what the 10 newbies are supposed to prepare before actually flying to the UK is to get ready physically and mentally. Moreover, they need to prepare for their English proficiency which would come into handy in their daily life in the UK. The boys will get to train with their senior from Fox Hunt Generation 4. Our team have come up with a special programmes designed for Thailand’s Fox Hunt boys. The goal is for them to earn English football experience as much as possible. They will learn how the football academy over here really is. The training sessions will instill their sense of responsibility so that, after the period of two and a half year, they can successfully find their footing in the world of football as they wish.”
Kawin Thamsatchanan, OH Leuven’s Goalkeeper from Thailand, who is an ambassador for Fox Hunt Project said, I’d like to add some suggestions for the Fox Hunt boys here. Opportunity brings new experiences. Your world becomes wider and more challenging. If you remain in Thailand, you won’t discover those experiences. Everything will be intense and the standards will get higher. You may think that what you’ve been doing will suffice. Once you get to see their training, you’ll realise that what you’ve been doing is not enough. You will need to work much harder.” He added, “I believe every Fox Hunt member has a goal, a dream and self-confidence. I also believe that when you get there, you will be able to see the bigger picture, learn a lot more that you’ve already have. You will certainly get to reap some new experiences which you can make use of them in the future.”
