WHAT'S NEW WATCHES

LEAD

It’s not easy to earn the status of being a leader, and even harder to retain the title. Here are some brands that have managed to secure their spot as industry’s leaders.

HERMÈS

What makes Hermès such a well-loved brand is how it strives for excellence in every aspect. The designs are unique, beautiful and simple, yet incredibly eye-catching and iconic. The Carré H polished steel watch, 38 x 38mm in size, is a testament to the brand’s focus on simple elegance, from the dial to the lugs and the in-house movement seen through the exhibition case back.

OMEGA

Known as the go-to watch brand for NASA astronauts and the first and only brand to have reached the moon, Omega is proud of its heritage. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is a legend not to be missed. The 42mm stainless hand-wound chronograph watch is a must-have for many.

PANERAI

Panerai had big role in WWII with Royal Italian Navy and their diving equipment. As the master of the sea, Panerai has introduced the Luminor Yachts Challenge or PAM00788, made of matte black ceramic, 44mm in size. The watch offers extreme precision with an integrated automatic flyback chronograph movement and 3-day power reserve. It is water resistant to 100 metres, befitting a watch from a famous diving equipment brand.

LUXE

For women, there are many definitions to glamour, depending on their character, emotion and preference, all of which can always change. Here are three glamourous examples of women’s different styles.

BVLGARI

Known for its elegant designs, Bvlgari adapts its signature Tubogas watch bracelet, inspired by woven-metal gas pipe, to match the contemporary look of the Lvcea, resulting in the Lvcea Tubogas, an 18 karat rose gold and stainless steel watch with red lacquered dial and diamond markers, powered by an automatic movement.

VACHERON CONSTANTIN

One of the oldest timepiece brands in the world, with more than 260 years of history, Vacheron Constantin brings the powerful design of the tonneau (barrel) shape to the Malte Manual-Winding, an 18 karat pink gold watch in 28.4 x 38.67mm. The watch combines the purity of mother-of-pearl with a vivid view of the movement, seen through the sapphire crystal caseback. The timepiece is Geneva Seal-certified.

MONTBLANC

For dreamers, the moon is always an inspiration, and Montblanc uses this inspiration to create the Bohème Day & Night, which indicates the hours, minutes, seconds, day & night, and date. The day/night indicator is seen through a beautiful arch in the middle of the elegant silver dial, powered by an automatic movement housed inside the 30mm stainless steel case with blue calf-skin strap.

LIGHT

For watchmakers, the most popular designs of the dial are sunray dial which starts out bright towards the centre with a subtle darkening of colour as you move closer to the edge. It adds depth and dimension to the dial. Here are three examples of the beauty of sunray dial.

RADO

Rado’s first diving watch the “Captain Cook” comes back in a limited edition of 1,962 pieces, which is the year it was first introduced. The 37mm stainless steel watch is in the same size as the original one, and is water resistant to 100 metres. The difference is the ceramic bezel and the champagne coloured sunray dial. It comes with a 80-hour power reserve and a selection of additional straps: leather strap, fine knit stainless steel Milanese bracelet or the durable textile NATO strap.

LONGINES

The blue sunray dial is gives the Longines Elegant Automatic a magnetic charm, enhanced by the diamond hour markers. Only 25.5mm in size, the stainless steel watch comes with a choice of blue leather strap and stainless steel bracelet. It displays hours, minutes, seconds, and date, powered by an automatic movement. It is water resistant to 30 metres.

SEIKO

Seiko Presage Cocktail’s engraved sunray dial looks spectacular like a cocktail drink. This popular series always introduces new colour ways to entice timepiece lovers. This one features a clean look with a silver dial and gold details. The 34mm stainless steel watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet, powered by an automatic movement.
