It’s the most magical time of the year as festivity fills the air and starry lights decorate the city, reminding us of happy Christmas Day and the New Year in Japan, even though we are right here in Bangkok.

Tenshino, a Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor of Pullman Bangkok King Power, joins the festive season by presenting Japanese culture in the most magical time of the year. A special menu is created, using imported ingredients from Japan, cooked to perfection using French techniques and Japanese style to bring out the ingredients’ natural flavour. These special dishes are served in a bohemian chic French bistro ambience.

SEA OF LOVE

Snow fish marinated in Shiro Miso and grilled on low heat, and perfectly seared foie gras that tastes heavenly.

A BOX OF WONDER

A special meal to celebrate the Christmas season is inspired by Japanese culture and presented in a bento set.

SOFT TOUCH

The tender texture of steamed egg and uni reminds us of how romantic winter by the beach is.

A special meal to celebrate the Christmas season is prepared by Chef “Pan” Kwanchanok Srithawatchara. Inspired by Japanese culture, she presents it in a bento set, and when you open the box, happiness awaits.

The starter dish is Sashimi, made with Hamachi, Madai and Akami (red meat of bluefin tuna), fresh from the sea. The sweet fish is enjoyed with Chawamuchi in Egg Shell with Uni, Japanese-style steamed egg topped with uni from Hokkaido. Contrast the texture with crispy Fried Ebi, made with tiger prawn and homemade bread crumbs, deep fried until golden, and served with tartar sauce. The main course is Foie Gras and Fuji Apple with Red Wine Sauce, seared to perfection and enjoyed with grilled Fuji apple from Aomori. Continue the experience with Snow Fish Miso Yaki accompanied with Japanese Rice, which is snow fish marinated in Shiro Miso and grilled on low heat, served with barley and miso sauce and chewy Japanese rice. Complete the meal with Matcha Soufflé, a French dessert made with Japanese green tea, which gives a symbolic colour of Christmas.

Bid farewell to the old year and ring in the New Year at Tenshino with Osechi Ryori, Japan’s traditional New Year foods, placed inside a red Jubako box which has an auspicious meaning.

SWEET AND TENDER

Warm Matcha Soufflé looks like a Christmas tree with specks of snow.

MAY I OPEN IT?

A masterfully created meal in a Jubako box, wrapped with a fabric featuring swimming carp in a golden river, is a perfect gift from Tenshino this festive season.

Inside, you will find Grilled Sea Bream, cooked to perfection and lightly salted, topped with sparkly Oscietra Caviar and Ikura, with rich uni. It is served with Datemaki, sweet rolled egg omelet seasoned with mirin, honey and shoyu. Kuri Kinton or Candied Chestnut with Sweet Potatoes is a sweet paste made from chestnut and potato from Nagoya, wrapped in aromatic sakura leaf. Kuromame or Japanese Style Black Bean is boiled black bean decorated with gold leaf. The shiny black colour of black bean gives a nice contrast to the red box. Namasu is carrot and radish salad. Its white and orange colour symbolises celebration. Grilled Tiger Prawn looks just as good as it tastes, served with Kamaboko or Japanese Fish Cake, Su Renkon (pickled lotus root) and Tataki Gobo (pounded burdock root with sesame sauce). Add warmth to the meal with King Crab Miso Soup, made with Alaskan king crab, served with Japanese rice.

Indulge in delicious food that reflects traditional culture and take this opportunity to reflect on the year that has passed, taking a moment to appreciate laughter, family, and friends. Cherish these memories and embark on a journey to the upcoming year.
