TRAVEL TIME

Of course, before our trip, we visited King Power Rangnam several times

Dear Power magazine,

On this trip, we picked up where we’d left off two years ago. It was our goal to visit all the five holy destinations of Myanmar. On the first trip, we had visited three, and I was very impressed with the architecture of the pagodas and the temples, and I was moved by the strong faith of the people there. So, I had intended to visit the other two in Mandalay and Bagan to cross all five off the list.

We chose to get a tour agent to help facilitate us in terms of food and accommodation, so we could really focus on appreciating the beauty. Of course, before our trip, we visited King Power Rangnam several times to check the prices of the items I wanted, and plan to use my wife’s birthday privilege. With birthday privilege’s tier 1, we shopped at Rangnam and got 30% rebate transferred onto membership card. Then we took advantage of tier 2 privilege at the airport to get 25% rebate. That put us in a good mood before the trip. We also deposited our airport shopping at the airport and picked them up on the way back — how convenient!

Let me talk about my favourite places on this trip. The first would be the thousands of pagodas in Bagan. If you have a chance to visit, appreciate it from a bird’s eye view and you will see a sea of pagodas before you —

it’s breathtaking. Go at sunrise or sunset and it’s even more beautiful. Another destination is the Shwezigon Pagoda, one of the greatest in Myanmar, as exquisite as the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. Last but not least, don’t miss the Face Washing Ceremony in Mandalay’s Mahamuni Buddha Temple. This ceremony is famous among locals and Buddhist visitors.

If you’ve never been to Myanmar and feel unsure about going there on your own, I highly recommend giving it a try. You can go with a tour agent because it’s more convenient. Although Myanmar is not fully developed, it’s convenient and the people are friendly. All you have to do is smile and say “Mingalabar”.

I would like to thank King Power and their efficient team, as well as the special promotions they offer. This is an important part that makes my wife and I want to travel more often!
